Key Stage 4: Years 10-11
During Key Stage 4, students follow courses in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. All students take part in Physical Education (PE), and in PSHE. All students study both English Language and English Literature, and either three separate Sciences or a combined Sciences leading to two GCSEs.
The majority of students study the EBACC pathway, including studies in sciences, a modern foreign language, and a humanities subject.
In addition, students may select from a wide range of GCSE options within a system of timetable blocks. Courses currently on offer include: GCSEs in Art, Business Studies, Computer Science, Design & Technology, French, Food Preparation & Nutrition, Geography, History, Physical Education, Spanish, and Statistics; and BTEC qualifications in Drama and Music.
We review, update and adapt the curriculum each year to meet the needs of our students. As with Key Stage 3, our curriculum is built around Aspiration, Opportunity, and Integrity. For more information, visit our current KS4 Options page.
Years 10 and 11 are ones of great opportunities, important decisions and new challenges. Students undertake work experience to get an insight into possible areas of career interest and experience the working world. They also prepare for public examinations, plan for their choices post-16 and look forward to some special social events, particularly the Year 11 Leavers Ball.
